Savage Penance Pre-Order and a Free Prequel

Savage Penance is coming out in just three weeks, and I cannot wait! I’m very excited about this one. So excited, in fact, that I wrote a prequel and I am giving it away for free!

You can grab the prequel on Apple Books, or, if you don’t have an Apple device, you can snag it through BookFunnel.

Here’s an excerpt from Savage Penance:

The truck’s cab was full of tense quiet as Doug pulled into the drive. Ben’s jaw was clenched—he was pissed.

“Look, I was an asshole,” Doug said. “I still am. I’m never gonna be as good as you and I sure as hell will not ever be as good as Chase. So I’m gonna check on the mom, get her info, and pass it on to Marlana. Then I’m peacing the fuck out of Montana.”

“You’re such an idiot,” Ben said.

Doug nodded. It wasn’t news to him. He parked the truck and started to climb out.

Ben stayed put. “First off, you can’t just abandon your daughter or son. It’s a dick move.”

“They’re better off without me.”

“Right now, I don’t doubt that,” Ben growled, “but it’s still a dick move. Second, you’re looking in the wrong place.”

Doug opened his mouth to retort, but froze, then sputtered, “What do you mean?”

“Looking for the mom of a toddler…in a fuckin’ bar?” Ben laughed.

“It’s where we met,” Doug said, frowning.

“Yeah, but single moms generally don’t hang out in bars. Then again, she might not be single.”

A flare of rage ignited in Doug’s chest. “What?”

“She could have a husband now, or a boyfriend,” Ben said, oblivious to Doug’s confusing jumble of feelings. “Either way, she’s unlikely to go to a bar when she has a little kid at home. I’m not saying she won’t, but there are better places to look for her.”

“Like where?”

Ben climbed out of the truck and slammed the door. Doug met him on the other side.

“Like daycares,” Ben said. “Parks. Library song and story time.”

“Library song and story time?”

Ben nodded.

“Have you been to library song and story time?” Doug asked, narrowing his eyes.

“Yes, I go every week with McKenzie.”

Horrified, Doug stammered, “Why?”

Ready for Some Magic and Mayhem?

Magic and Mayhem is out today! Keira Blackwood and I have a book in this anthology, and it’s part of our Spellbound Shifters: Fates & Visions series. It’s the beginning of Wren Solaris’s journey.

magic and mayhem spellcaster hidden

This is an excerpt from Spellcaster Hidden…because what could be more fun in a magical academy, than a magical version of Spin the Bottle? In this game, people toss a ball of light back and forth. If it turns red, the person who threw the ball and the person who caught it have to kiss, or they suffer some magical consequences. In the excerpt, our heroine has just caught a ball thrown by her teacher’s assistant.

SH teaser 1

There was no time to think. Instinctively, I reached out and caught the ball.

It turned red. Everyone cheered.

I hazarded a glance at Maxwell.

He looked absolutely revolted.

Well, that stung more than a little.

I didn’t know how to get rid of the ball. If I threw it really fast, maybe the magic would move on.

My palm started to itch. In the glowing red light of the ball, it looked redder than it should have. The itch turned into heat, and a burn. I was determined to suck it up. I’d let my whole freaking hand fall off before I kissed some asshole who was so obviously repulsed by me.

“Kiss, kiss, kiss!” everyone chanted.

Jace was staring at me, his eyes wide. “That has to hurt,” he called.

It did. It hurt like a motherfucker. My eyes were watering, but I blinked back the tears. Fire was nothing to my pride.

Suddenly, Maxwell was standing right in front of me.

“Morgan,” he said, his voice mocking.

Damn him, he wasn’t giving any sign that he was hurt.

“I need your consent,” he whispered. The expression in his blue eyes was turbulent—dislike, desire.

He didn’t like me, yet I could tell he wasn’t repulsed by me. He wanted me. Infuriating man. Maybe giving me a bland peck on the lips was just the punishment he deserved.

Feeling pissy and contrary, I said, “Yes, you have my consent.”

The kiss was not bland like I’d expected—far from it. It was bruising and punishing—there was nothing sweet or soft as his lips met mine. They moved against me in a way that made me sigh into him. Taking advantage of my parted lips, he swiped his tongue against them. I opened more, and gripped his arms as if holding him in place. He tasted like cinnamon, fiery sweet.

RHRMM03

Keira and I put together a game where you can spin a wheel to find out which of the leading men in Spellcaster Hidden you’ll kiss first! It’s not quite as fun as throwing around a glowing magical ball, but it’s the closest we can come. 🙂 Check it out by clicking here, and let us know who you won!

Fated Mates is Now Available!

It’s finally here! Keira Blackwood and I are so proud of the book we coauthored for this anthology, Orphan Entangled. It’s a loose retelling of The Jungle Book–about a girl raised in the jungle by a pack of wolves. From there it gets even wilder, with three shapeshifters–a wolf, a panther, and a bear–vying to claim her as their mate.
